  • A fire broke out at Blk 52 Toa Payoh Lorong 6 on May 6, the second case this week involving discarded items at a lift landing.

This comes a day after National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan urged HDB residents to cooperate with rules on dumping, after a similar incident at Marsiling on Friday.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force was alerted to the fire at 7.45pm.

The incident took place at the lift lobby on the eighth floor of the block.

There were bicycles at the lift landing too.

A hotline caller, who is a resident at the block, told Channel NewsAsia that explosions were heard.

SCDF said the fire was put out within fifteen minutes.
